Milan forward, Serbian Luka Jovic, has been suspended for two matches on Tuesday after slapping an opponent during his team's 4-2 loss to Monza in the 25th round of the Italian football league last Sunday. Jovic (26 years old) slapped Monza defender Armando Izzo, prompting the referee to show him a red card after consulting the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) in the 52nd minute, while Milan was trailing by two goals. The Serbian striker will miss Milan's match against Atalanta in the 26th round next Sunday and the visit to Rome against Lazio on March 1. Jovic has scored seven goals this season for Milan, which currently sits in third place in the league with 52 points, trailing 11 points behind arch-rivals Inter, who are in first place. Milan is also competing in the UEFA Europa League, having won 3-0 at home against French side Rennes in the first leg of the playoff qualifying for the Round of 16.
