Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated today, Saturday, that he sees "a historic victory that will be achieved for them" tomorrow, Sunday, in the second round of the Turkish presidential elections. In a speech before a rally in the Beykoz area of Istanbul, Erdogan claimed that "the opposition leader and its candidate, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, speaks at rallies according to instructions received from the leaders of the Kurdish Workers' Party in the Qandil Mountains."
Erdogan added: "We will accept the election results regardless of the voting outcome; what matters most to us is the victory of democracy," noting that "the opposition leader and its candidate is a liar and is lying in his speeches, distributing many seats of his party in parliament to smaller parties."
He urged Turkish voters and his supporters to "head to the polls and vote in large numbers in the elections to achieve a great and historic victory," affirming that he sees "a historic victory that will be achieved tomorrow" in the elections. He continued: "We will continue to achieve economic successes in all fields. We did not conduct negotiations behind closed doors with the leaders of terrorist organizations."
Erdogan said: "The Republican People's Party (the opposition) is the second largest party in the country, led by a person who ascended to its leadership after a sexual scandal, so what do you expect from him?" He called for heading to "the polls. We are asking for the presidency for an additional five years. Vote in large numbers not only for us but for our children and the future of generations."
