French Proposal for a Diplomatic Settlement Regarding the Northern Front

Israeli Channel 13 reported that France has proposed a trilateral summit in Paris to calm tensions along the border with Lebanon, stating that Paris is committed to continuing mediation efforts for a ceasefire. The channel quoted Israeli officials saying that there will be no serious discussion of the French proposal without a deal resulting in a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that Tel Aviv believes that the end of the Gaza war will lead to a de-escalation on the northern front. On April 20, French President Emmanuel Macron visited Beirut to discuss ways to end the fighting across the border between Hezbollah and Israel.
