On Saturday, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced the execution of a military operation against Israel. The Revolutionary Guard stated in a statement: "The honorable and martyr-loving Islamic people of Iran, in response to the numerous crimes of the evil Zionist regime, including the attack on the consular section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Damascus and the martyrdom of Iranian military commanders and advisors, carried out a wide-ranging military operation against targets within the occupied territories using dozens of missiles and drones, executed by the valiant aerospace force with the support of other forces, under the operation 'Its Promise is True,' with the sacred code 'Oh Messenger of God'."
The statement added, "Details of this operation, which was conducted with the approval of the Supreme National Security Council and under the supervision of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, with the support of the devoted men of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Ministry of Defense, will soon capture the attention of the heroic Iranian people and free nations around the world."
Iran began an attack on Israel on Saturday evening with dozens of drones, following warnings of a retaliatory Iranian response to the killing of a senior military commander at the Iranian embassy complex in Damascus last week.
