Miss Malaysia, Veer Nikah Terencep, has become a focal point on social media and in the media after being stripped of her title due to a video. A clip surfaced showing her dancing with almost naked men in Thailand, according to the British newspaper "Independent." Following the backlash, reports indicated that the 24-year-old decided to relinquish her title hours before the call from Tan Sri Joseph Berin Kitingan, head of the "Kadazan Dusun" cultural association, to strip her of it.
Local newspapers reported that Terencep was seen during her holiday in Thailand, dancing suggestively with nearly naked male dancers. This competition is one of the key events in the annual Harvest Festival in Malaysia's Sabah state, commemorating the spirit of Humminodon, a legendary girl believed to possess a beautiful heart, mind, and spirit. Kitingan clarified that the dissemination of such a video would not have posed any issue if Terencep were just an ordinary person, as he stated.
It is noteworthy that the young woman had previously won the title of Miss "Ondok Ngadaw Johor" in 2023. After surrendering her crown prior to the final decision, Terencep posted a video on social media expressing her desire to hold the title in the future "with honor and humility."
