A video has circulated on social media showing a woman jumping over her grandson and shielding him with her body from the wheels of a tram in Istanbul, Turkey. According to local media, a boy named Adam Chakin suddenly jumped onto the tram tracks of the Kadikoy-Moda line on General Asim Gündüz Street in the Osman Aga neighborhood. The child's grandmother, Ilgun Sholig, was seriously injured when she was struck by the tram while trying to save her grandson.
Surveillance cameras captured the moment a Turkish woman was run over by the tram while trying to rescue her grandson, who had slipped from her grasp and attempted to cross the street running in the Kadikoy area of Istanbul. The woman was able to save her grandson by pushing him to the opposite side but was unable to save herself and remained in front of the tram.
Immediately after the incident, police, fire teams, and medical crews arrived at the scene. Paramedics worked to retrieve the grandmother and grandson from underneath the tram and transported them to the hospital. The woman died upon arrival, while the child sustained minor injuries and received first aid at the scene. The street where the incident occurred was closed to tram traffic in both directions, and police teams began an investigation. An eyewitness reported that the child suddenly jumped in front of the tram, and his grandmother pushed him to save him.
