Title: Arsenal Wins Community Shield Title

Arsenal won the Community Shield today, Sunday, after defeating Manchester City 4-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at Wembley Stadium. Substitute Cole Palmer opened the scoring for City with a stunning strike into the far corner of Aaron Ramsdale's goal with 13 minutes remaining. Just when it seemed City would celebrate the title, substitute Leandro Trossard fired in a shot that deflected off defender Manuel Akanji into the net past Stefan Ortega in the 11th minute of stoppage time.

Arsenal converted their first four penalty kicks, while Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri missed two penalties, ending City's hopes of achieving a treble. Ramsdale told ITV, "For us, this is proof that we can beat City in an important match. I don't know what will happen this season, but the psychological barrier has fallen. We are ready now."

City's performance improved after the break, with Ramsdale saving a header from John Stones. Palmer scored for City before Ramsdale made crucial saves from attempts by Phil Foden and Rodri. Trossard managed to equalize with help from Akanji, sending the match to penalties. Arsenal hit their first four penalties, while De Bruyne hit the crossbar and Ramsdale saved a penalty from Rodri, ending City's chances of claiming the title.

With this victory, Arsenal won the title for the 17th time, moving into second place behind Manchester United in the list of most Community Shield wins. City's disappointment in the competition continued after their defeat to Liverpool last season and to Leicester City in 2021.
