The spokesperson for "UNIFIL," Andrea Tenenti, confirmed that "the developments in southern Lebanon are very concerning, and the escalation could lead to a much larger conflict." He added, "We have observed in recent times that the shelling on the Lebanese-Israeli border has become more violent and bloody." He continued, "There is no room for a military solution between Lebanon and Israel that would lead to a larger conflict that no one desires." He noted that "there is still room for negotiation, and there is still an opportunity to reach solutions regarding southern Lebanon." Tenenti revealed that the international forces "are investigating the cause of the incident that occurred involving military observers yesterday," pointing out that "our investigative team has been sent to look into this, as we need to verify with our own investigation team." In response to a question regarding whether "UNIFIL" had begun to take specific security measures following the incident, he stated, "Security measures have been taken, and 'UNIFIL' has always had very strict security protocols." The United Nations announced that three of its military observers and a translator were injured in an explosion near them during a patrol along the Blue Line in southern Lebanon.
