Arrest of the Mastermind Behind a Car Theft Gang and One of His Associates

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division announced in a statement that "as part of the ongoing efforts by the Internal Security Forces to combat all types of crimes, particularly those related to car theft in various regions of Lebanon. On 01/02/2024, information was received by the International Theft Crimes Bureau in the Judicial Police Unit regarding a gang involved in stealing cars of the types 'Hyundai' and 'Kia,' which has its base in the Ouzai area. Immediately, the mentioned bureau began the necessary investigations and inquiries to identify the gang members and arrest them.

On the same date, a force from the aforementioned bureau, in coordination with the special unit, managed to arrest the mastermind of the gang in a well-planned ambush in the Ouzai area. It was confirmed that his name is A. Sh. (born in 1997, Lebanese), nicknamed 'Al-Mahyoub,' and he is wanted for car theft. Additionally, one of the patrols arrested a gang member in the Corniche Al-Mazra'a area, driving a 'Range Rover,' his name is Q. S. (born in 1995, Lebanese), and he is also wanted for the same crime.

During the investigation with the two arrestees, they confessed to stealing more than 50 cars of the types 'Hyundai' and 'Kia,' and smuggling them to Syria for the benefit of a judicial wanted person, in collaboration with other individuals who have also been arrested. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the competent judiciary."
