Heavy rainfall has caused the flooding of the Mujib Dam located south of the Jordanian capital, Amman, according to the Ministry of Water and Irrigation. The Ministry of Water and Irrigation - Jordan Valley Authority had warned of possible flooding from the Mujib Dam in the coming hours. The ministry, in a statement, urged caution and advised against approaching the riverbed, noting that all necessary measures have been taken with relevant authorities. Jordan is experiencing a cold, moist air mass accompanying a low-pressure system centered northeast of Syria. The Ministry of Water reported that flooding from the Mujib Dam began after approximately 2 million cubic meters of water entered the dam within the past 24 hours, increasing its storage capacity to 24 million and 700 thousand cubic meters. The Ministry had warned earlier today about the anticipated flooding of the dam, urging citizens to exercise caution and keep safe.
