The Iraqi National Security Agency announced on Wednesday the seizure of approximately 1.4 million narcotic pills in the capital, Baghdad, hidden secretly inside various sized fabric rolls. A statement from the Directorate of Relations and Media in the National Security Agency mentioned that "in a qualitative intelligence operation, in coordination with the national security units in Baghdad, a force from the Najaf Al-Ashraf Security Directorate managed to seize about 1.4 million Captagon pills hidden secretly inside 440 fabric rolls that were prepared for smuggling through a cargo shipping company."
It added that "the operation took place after obtaining judicial approvals and intensifying intelligence efforts that led to the arrest of one of the suspects in the act, who had receipts in the name of the cargo transport company." It was also noted that "the suspect, along with the seized items, was referred to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary legal actions against him."
