Dozens of American diplomats have warned President Joe Biden's administration of mounting anger in the Arab world over Washington's support for the war. The U.S. administration received clear warnings from American diplomats in the Arab world regarding its backing of the Israeli war in Gaza, according to CNN on Friday. These diplomats sent a warning cable to Biden concerning U.S. support for Israel's military campaign in Gaza, which has been described as devastating and deadly. They argued that this American stance "is causing the country to lose an entire generation of Arab audiences."
They pointed out the growing anger against the United States following Israel's operations against Hamas after the October 7 attacks. The cable from diplomats in Oman noted that America "is losing badly in the battle of narratives." Furthermore, the cable warned that "U.S. support for Israeli actions is viewed as a material and moral responsibility for what are considered potential war crimes."
It is noteworthy that this cable, sent from the U.S. embassy in Oman, was authored by the second-highest American official in Muscat and was routed to the National Security Council, the CIA, and the FBI. Some senior officials in the Biden administration have privately acknowledged that there are aspects of the Israeli military operations that they simply cannot defend. Multiple sources have revealed that several officials are horrified by the continuous images of Palestinian civilians being killed daily in Israeli airstrikes.
