The media office of the Mufti of Akkar, Zaid Zakaria, stated in a press release that "following the resignation of Mukhtar of Al-Qurna, Muhammad Ali Zakaria (Abu Rabeh), community leaders in the village convened a meeting attended by local clerics to discuss the reasons behind the mukhtar's resignation and its implications." Mukhtar Abu Rabeh clarified that "the primary reason for his decision was the lack of cooperation from the residents in helping to remove waste from the village roads while he was being held solely responsible for it."
After discussing and consulting, the attendees urged the mukhtar "to reconsider his resignation in these challenging times," and they called on the villagers to "cooperate and support the mukhtar in this matter that affects every individual in the village, which is not solely his responsibility." Each individual was reminded of their responsibilities, and they urged everyone "to contribute to paying the necessary amounts for waste removal from the village."
The participants also agreed to "form a committee from all families to assist the mukhtar in resolving these issues and overcoming the difficulties he faces," hoping that the villagers would "embrace a sense of responsibility and learn how to sort waste within their homes."
At the conclusion of the meeting, after further deliberation and consultation, the mukhtar decided to "submit his resignation for the consideration of the Mufti of Akkar, Sheikh Zaid Bakr Zakaria."
