Prime Minister Najib Mikati received a delegation from the "Strong Republic" bloc this afternoon at the Grand Serail. Following the visit, MP Strida Geagea's office issued a statement stating: "The delegation discussed with the Prime Minister the issue of the illegal Syrian presence in Lebanon, confirming to President Mikati that Lebanon is a transit country and never a country of asylum. Furthermore, the municipalities in the areas where the bloc's deputies operate are fulfilling their duties in regulating this presence; however, this alone is not sufficient. The security forces and the General Security must play their central and fundamental roles in this matter." The delegation urged Mikati to "give clear instructions to the Ministers of Interior and Defense, so that each of them, within their jurisdiction, follows up with the General Directorate of General Security and the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces and the Army to enforce the law on all foreigners present illegally on Lebanese territory."
