A massive fire broke out today, Wednesday, in the famous spice market known as the Egyptian Bazaar, located in the Eminönü district of central Istanbul, Turkey. Fatih Mayor Mehmet Ergun Turan stated, "The fire ignited from a chimney. Our firefighting teams intervened immediately. The fire has been extinguished and controlled. Smoke is being evacuated from the roof."
He emphasized that "there has not been significant damage to the bazaar," noting that "fires pose a major risk to the historical buildings in the area." Reports indicate that the fire began in the chimney section of a restaurant located within the historic bazaar.
