The British newspaper "The Sun" reported today that Hardy is believed to have drowned at a beach in the town of Fremantle near Perth, Western Australia, last Thursday. Hardy had traveled to Perth from London, where he had lived for several years, to visit his elderly mother, according to the newspaper. He appeared as Jamie Dren in several episodes of the Australian series "Neighbours" in 1997, and he was well-known in Australia for his roles in "McLeod’s Daughters" and "Chopper." Australian media reported that Hardy was diving at South Beach in Fremantle last Thursday when he encountered trouble in the water, adding that the cause of his death is still unknown.
