The distinguished Jaafari mufti Sheikh Ahmad Qablan issued a statement saying: "In the logic of the country, the people, history, and the homeland, I say: O our people, O partners in the homeland, the country needs everyone, it needs a national solidarity that befits times of hardship and difficulty, it needs love and fairness that transcends sects, it needs us to re-employ our humanity in this country, it needs a national medicine that brings together the divided and connects what is torn apart, it needs us to deal with each other from the perspective of 'I am you and you are me', it needs the logic of one body as the foundation for political stances, it requires the church and the mosque, the Muslim and the Christian as the foundation for the national family, it needs the historical brotherhood between Jabal Qasirwan and Jabal Amel, it needs us to regulate our political selves on the basis of 'love for others what you love for yourself', it needs the bishop in the mosque and the sheikh in the church."
He added: "What is required is moderation that brings us together and ensures our diversity, and in this context, political schism is a national crime, leaving the country without a presidential settlement is a denial of the single Lebanese family, and the history of the parliament is the history of national settlements, and there must be a presidential settlement that befits the Lebanese sect that unites all sects of Lebanon."
