Britain: The Strength of China-Russia Relations Threatens Democracy

British Defense Minister Grant Shapps expressed concern today, Sunday, regarding the "recent strengthening of diplomatic relations between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which poses a threat to democracy." Shapps told Sky News: "I am deeply concerned about this because neither country believes in democracy." He added: "In this situation, with their attempts to spread their system to the rest of the world, we need to keep a close watch and be vigilant because this represents a direct threat to our way of life." The Russian and Chinese leaders pledged on Thursday to begin a "new era" of partnership between the two strongest rivals of the United States.
