Minister of Economy and Trade Heads to Washington for World Bank Meetings

The Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam, has departed for Washington to participate in the World Bank's annual spring meetings at the bank's headquarters. The visit will include a series of meetings with various U.S. administrations, including the State Department, Treasury Department, Commerce Department, Justice Department, and several members of the U.S. Senate. Discussions will focus on the World Bank's work program in Lebanon, particularly concerning food and social security issues and the energy program. The meetings will also address support for the emergency social safety net project in Lebanon and the Green Agricultural and Food Transformation Project (GATE), which the World Bank approved last year. Salam expects the outcome of the meetings to be positive, as he will present the implications of the support provided by the international community, particularly the World Bank, in alleviating widespread poverty and supporting the most vulnerable families through the social safety net program.
