Cameras captured Italian referee Daniele Orsato shedding tears as the final whistle blew in the match between Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday evening. According to losblancoslive, this match was the last game Orsato would officiate in the UEFA Champions League before retirement. The 48-year-old Orsato is set to officiate at Euro 2024, which will be his final tournament before he hangs up his whistle.
Orsato is one of 18 referees from across Europe who will participate in the Euro tournament in Germany this summer. Borussia Dortmund advanced to the Champions League final for the third time in its history by defeating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 at home, winning 2-0 on aggregate.
