The grandmother of the teenager Nael Marzouki, who was killed by police after his car was stopped in a suburb of Paris, issued a plea to end the riots that have erupted across the country following her grandson's death, which has entered its sixth night as of Sunday. The woman, known to the French media as Nadia, stated that the rioters are exploiting Nael's (17 years old) death as a justification for chaos and that the family wishes for calm to prevail. Nadia told BFM TV, "Nael is dead. My daughter is lost... she no longer wants to live." She added, "Do not destroy schools, do not destroy buses... I tell them to stop."
