President of the Parliament Nabih Berri received the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants in the caretaker government, Abdullah Bou Habib, at the second presidential office in Ain al-Tineh. They discussed the general situation, political communications, and recent developments in light of Israel's continued aggression against Lebanon, especially in the southern border villages with occupied Palestine and the Gaza Strip.
After the meeting, Minister Bou Habib stated: "I always visit President Berri to discuss important issues that concern the country as a whole. He is, of course, a fundamental pillar of the state and possesses wisdom and knowledge in foreign affairs." He added: "Today we spoke about the French role and its importance, and the necessity for France to remain engaged. Today, they have an initiative that contains many good and acceptable points, as well as points that require further discussion."
Bou Habib concluded: "Today, I delivered the state's message to the French ambassador, and of course, President Mikati and President Berri are informed. We hope that the initiative continues, and they (the French) are thinking in this direction and want to continue and complete this initiative, which is important for us to reach a type of agreement that provides complete and permanent stability for the southern borders."
President Berri also followed up on the developments of the general situation, political updates, and issues related to the industrial sector during his meeting with the Minister of Industry in the caretaker government, George Bouchikian. The President also received MP Fouad Makhzoumi, where they discussed the general situation, political developments, and legislative matters.
On another note, President Nabih Berri received a telegram from the Speaker of the Syrian People’s Assembly, Hamouda Sabbagh, congratulating him on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
