Jordan Summons Its Ambassador from Tel Aviv

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, Wednesday, that "the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, has decided to summon the Jordanian ambassador to Israel back to Jordan immediately, expressing Jordan's rejection and condemnation of the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza, which is killing innocent people and causing an unprecedented humanitarian disaster, carrying dangerous implications for its expansion, thereby threatening the security of the entire region and international peace and security."

The ministry stated in a statement: "Safadi directed the relevant department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates to inform the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs that their ambassador, who had previously left the Kingdom, would not be returned. Safadi clarified that the return of ambassadors would be linked to Israel stopping its war on Gaza and halting the humanitarian disaster it is causing, along with measures that deprive Palestinians of their rights to food, water, and medicine, and their right to live safely and stably on their national soil."

Safadi emphasized that "Jordan will continue to work to stop the war on Gaza, to allow humanitarian aid in, to protect civilians, and to shield the region from its repercussions and its catastrophic impact on the future of the region and its right to fair and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, which embodies the independent, sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital along the lines of June 4, 1967, representing the only way to ensure the security of all peoples and countries in the region."
