Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that his country has cut trade relations with Israel and will continue to do so, indicating that it may sever other relations as well. He emphasized in a statement during the "International Parliamentary Platform for Jerusalem" activities today, Friday, that "we must work to not overlook the tragedies of our brothers in Gaza and hold Israel accountable under the law."
The Turkish president underscored the "necessity of exerting pressure on the Israeli administration to stop the massacres and deliver aid to the Gaza Strip." He affirmed that "Turkey will not stop supporting Palestine and will not remain silent towards Israel after committing the crime of genocide in Gaza."
Erdogan rejected accusations of anti-Semitism directed at him, stating that "the Israeli administration thinks it can silence us by accusing us of anti-Semitism. No matter what you do and how hard you try, it is useless." He pointed out that his country will continue to consider the Hamas movement a national liberation movement, noting that its members "defend their land against the occupiers."
