Bouchkian Launches

The Minister of Industry in the caretaker government, Deputy George Bouchkian, inaugurated today, Wednesday, the "Photovoltaic System" at the Ministry of Industry, funded by the European Union and implemented in coordination with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The celebration was attended by the UNIDO representative in Lebanon, Jordan, and Syria, Emmanuel Kalinzy, the head of cooperation at the EU Delegation to Lebanon, Alessandra Vitsser, the General Director of the Ministry, Engineer Chantal Akal, and officials from the ministry, the international organization, and the European delegation. Bouchkian delivered a speech saying: "I am very pleased to meet you today to celebrate the inauguration of the photovoltaic system at the Ministry of Industry. I would like to start by thanking everyone from the European Union for their generosity in funding and supporting this system, and the UNIDO which worked hard to install this system in the ministry's buildings as part of the EU-funded 2Circular Project, a project we are honored to implement with UNIDO. This system is extremely important for the ministry as it has contributed to our ability to withstand the economic and financial crises that Lebanon is experiencing." He continued: "This system allows us to reduce the use of expensive fossil fuels and enables us to operate the computer servers in the ministry continuously without interruption, as the continuity of this service is vital for the sustainability of the services and support we provide to Lebanese industries. Besides solving the energy security issue, this program contributes to reducing the environmental footprint, which is very important to us as a ministry working to promote green industry and the circular economy. We look forward to continuing our fruitful and ongoing cooperation with the European Union and UNIDO on new projects that will further enhance the Lebanese industrial sector and make it greener and more sustainable."
