A judge specializing in disputes related to protective matters has placed star Alain Delon (88 years old), who is suffering from a serious illness, under "enhanced guardianship," marking a new judicial development concerning the French film icon. Delon, who has lymphoma, had been placed under judicial protection since January, with a legal representative appointed to assist him with "medical follow-up." A source close to the case reported the "conversion of this measure to enhanced guardianship" following a closed session held Thursday afternoon at the Montargis court.
The source added that "enhanced guardianship" "concretely means that Delon no longer has full freedom to manage his assets and the decisions he can make, and this decision allows for the management of certain medical aspects that concern him." Enhanced guardianship provides the guardian the ability to manage the concerned person's bank account and pay their expenses, according to the website service-public.fr.
Since early January, the star's three children have been engaged in a fierce battle among themselves, both in the press and in court, each asserting their desire to protect the ailing French actor whose health has deteriorated since suffering a stroke in 2019. His sons Anthony (59 years old) and Alain-Fabien (29 years old) believe their sister Anouchka (33 years old) is manipulating their father as she concealed his health condition from them and wanted to take him back to Switzerland, according to their claims.
The brothers insisted that Anouchka wishes to return the star to Switzerland, the country of which he is a citizen and where he regularly resides, in order to avoid paying high inheritance taxes in France. Anouchka has filed a lawsuit against her brothers for invasion of privacy after they published a conversation between her and their father, and the trial is set to take place in April 2025 in a Paris court.
