Arrest of Members of a Motorcycle Theft Gang in Furn El Chebbak

The Internal Security Forces' General Directorate - Public Relations Division announced in a statement that "as a result of the specialized operations conducted by the internal security forces to combat motorcycle thefts in various Lebanese areas, information was obtained by the Information Branch regarding a gang active in stealing motorcycles from the Furn El Chebbak area and its surroundings. Following this, and as a result of investigations and inquiries, the branch was able to identify their identities, which are: H. Z. (born in 2007, Lebanese), M. Z. (born in 2007, Lebanese), and K. A. (born in 2007, Lebanese).

On March 4, 2024, after careful surveillance, one of the patrols managed to apprehend them in the act at the "City Center" in Furn El Chebbak while they were attempting to steal a motorcycle, which was recovered. Another motorcycle, a black "Sweit" without license plates, was found in possession of the first and second individuals, while a black "Mercedes" was found with the third. Tools used in theft operations were also seized: (a mask, gloves, a sum of money, and mobile devices).

During the investigation, they confessed to what was attributed to them regarding their involvement in carrying out dozens of motorcycle thefts from Furn El Chebbak and surrounding areas, selling them to an individual in the Sahara of Choueifat. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend him. The necessary legal actions were taken against them, and they were handed over along with the seized items to the relevant authorities, based on the instructions of the competent judiciary."
