Amal Movement: The Key to Solution Begins with Electing a President for the Republic

The Political Bureau of the Amal Movement indicated that "in the context of its firm stance on regional issues, which calls for the necessity of ending disputes between Arab and Islamic countries, as articulated in the speech of the Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri at the inauguration of the Iranian embassy, the Amal Movement welcomes this significant development in the regional political scene marked by the success of Chinese mediation in restoring diplomatic relations between the two Muslim countries, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is hoped that this will have positive implications for many issues related to regional stability, pushing the situations towards what benefits their peoples."

In a statement, it affirmed that "the key to solving our national problems in all their dimensions starts with the step of electing a President for the Republic, followed by the formation of a new government that activates management and begins implementing a financial, monetary, and economic reform project, placing Lebanon on the path to a new economic reality grounded in production after the failure of the rentier model. It should also engage in negotiations with international institutions and prepare the conditions of the country to facilitate oil and gas extraction."

The bureau mentioned that "the continuation of the depreciation of the Lebanese lira against the clear deficit of the relevant institutions and agencies raises concerns and legitimate questions about the evident intentions that speculators and the economic and political forces behind them are pursuing to subjugate the Lebanese people to impose options that could trigger social and political explosions." It called for "the need to mobilize oversight bodies, the Consumer Protection Agency, and all departments of the Ministry of Economy to work towards preventing the unchecked rise in food prices."
