After a video went viral on social media, Kuwaiti authorities decided to detain a soldier who attacked a citizen at Kuwait International Airport with a knife.
In detail, during a quarrel that broke out between them, a soldier attacked a citizen with a sharp object, according to local media. The Ministry of Interior intervened immediately, with a security source stating on Monday that an investigation was opened with the soldier working in airport traffic after he appeared in the video holding a sharp tool.
The Ministry of Interior announced: "An urgent investigation has been opened into the incident of the quarrel at Kuwait International Airport."
The source added that the brawl erupted between a traffic officer and a citizen working at the airport, rapidly escalating into physical fights, prompting the soldier to pull out a sharp object, leading security personnel and bystanders to intervene to break up the fight. Meanwhile, a third individual filmed the incident and shared it on social media.
The source noted that the authorities are searching for the other party involved in the fight, as well as the person who filmed it on his phone. Furthermore, a decision was made to detain the soldier for 10 days in preparation for necessary legal actions against him. The Media Security Department of the Ministry of Interior issued a statement announcing an urgent investigation into the incident and the implementation of all disciplinary penalties and necessary actions.
