Army: 10 Detained Following Gunfire During Burial Ceremony in Babbine

The Army Command - Directorate of Guidance issued the following statement: "On May 1, 2024, following the gunfire and armed appearances during a burial ceremony in the town of Babbine - Akkar on April 28, 2024, and after monitoring and investigation, units of the army, supported by patrols from the Intelligence Directorate in the town and the Minyeh - Akkar area, conducted raids on the homes of those involved and detained 10 individuals. They seized military weapons and a quantity of ammunition. The display of arms and gunfire represents a breach of security and poses a threat to the lives of innocents. Therefore, the Army Command confirms that it is in the process of tracking down the shooters, detaining them, and referring them to the competent judiciary. It also calls on relevant parties to act responsibly, make the necessary efforts, and cooperate with security forces to help prevent security-disrupting practices from a national perspective, especially during the delicate phase Lebanon is going through."
