The Polish Football Association announced on Wednesday its separation from coach Fernando Santos following a 2-0 loss to Albania, which complicated Poland's chances of qualifying for the 2024 European Championship. Polish Football Association President Cezary Kulesza stated in a message, "Choosing a new coach is a priority for the Board of the Polish Football Association, so we will soon announce the date for introducing the new coach." Santos, who led Portugal to victory in the 2016 European Championship, took charge last January, succeeding Czesław Michniewicz, who was dismissed after Poland's exit from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar following a loss to France in the Round of 16. After the defeat in Tirana on Sunday, Santos said he was "not thinking about resigning." Poland is currently in fourth place in Group E with six points from five matches.
