Spanish authorities announced today, Friday, the thwarting of the largest drug trafficking operation since 2015, seizing a truck loaded with drugs coming from Morocco. The Spanish police stated that the Civil Guard confiscated 25 tons of hashish at the port of Algeciras in the largest operation since 2015, in collaboration with the customs surveillance department of the tax agency.
They explained that the shipment was hidden in a truck coming from Morocco and was seized at the port of Algeciras, with a potential market value of up to 50 million euros. Spanish authorities indicated that according to the documents carried by the truck driver, it "was transporting watermelons to Perpignan, France." Security personnel found 22 wooden boxes inside the trailer, filled with a significant amount of drugs. What surprised investigators was that the truck carried only a very small amount of the declared legal product, which was watermelon.
