The announcement by the "Hamas" movement in Lebanon regarding the establishment of the "Tsunami of Al-Aqsa Vanguards" has sparked a debate and predominantly negative reactions. Although the Palestinian movement took the initiative to issue clarifications, denying any intention to militarize Palestinian camps, it stated that its aim remains focused on culturally mobilizing Palestinians, in acknowledgment of maintaining Lebanese sovereignty.
Lebanese sources affiliated with opposition forces noted that "Hamas" misjudged the timing of its announcement regarding the formation of the "Tsunami of Al-Aqsa Vanguards," despite the majority of Lebanese standing with it against the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. However, there is hesitation regarding its involvement under the cover of "Hezbollah" in the ongoing confrontation with Israel in southern Lebanon.
The same sources told "Asharq Al-Awsat" that "Hamas'" announcement has caused concern among Lebanese regarding its intentions to expand its influence in the camps and to potentially establish a state within the Lebanese state. "Asharq Al-Awsat" learned that the Lebanese army's intelligence directorate has reached out to the movement's leadership to clarify the motives behind this step, and it was determined that there is no intention to impose any military or security characteristics on this formation.
