New "Economic Artery" Between Egypt and Russia

New

The port of Dekheila in Alexandria witnessed the launch of the Russian company "FESCO" for direct regular container services between the ports of Novorossiysk and Alexandria. The Russian giant shipping and transportation group "FESCO" announced the launch of a direct shipping line between Russia and Egypt from the "Russia-Africa" summit held in St. Petersburg.

Andrei Severilov, Chairman of the Board of "FESCO," stated that "FESCO" is the largest transport company in Russia with the biggest maritime fleet in the country and will serve as a bridge between the Russian and African economies, including the Maghreb countries and North Africa as a whole.

The Russian official added, "Today we only announced the opening of a direct marine container service between the Egyptian port of Damietta and the Russian port of Novorossiysk. It is quite a significant shipping line, and we have been preparing for this event over the last six months. We visited several commercial institutions and companies in Egypt. We are looking forward to huge transport potential, reaching up to 30,000 refrigerated containers a year."

Severilov anticipated that Egypt, due to its strategic location, would become a hub for shipments to and from Russia, saying, "There is no doubt that Egypt's location itself, along with its ports, allows us to operate goods and shipping routes easily, especially in North Africa, and to deliver necessary shipments to Central Africa." He noted that "FESCO" is interested in launching new shipping routes to African countries, including North African countries: Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia.
