The Palestinian presidency indicated that "the heinous massacre and treacherous, terrorist assassination of fighters from the National Security Forces while performing their national duties to safeguard the security and safety of our people in the Ain al-Hilweh camp, and ensuring the security of the neighboring Lebanese area, represent a crossing of all red lines and a tampering with Lebanese security and the camp's safety by extremist terrorist groups that have been working for years to drag the camp into executing agendas aimed at undermining the stability witnessed there. This matter is unacceptable and will not go unpunished for the perpetrators of this massacre."
The presidency emphasized in a statement on Sunday evening that "the security of the camps is a red line and it is not permissible for anyone to terrorize our people and tamper with their security. We support what the Lebanese government is doing to enforce order and law, and we affirm our deep commitment to the sovereignty of Lebanon, including the Palestinian refugee camps, and to maintaining security and law."
It added: "We have worked hard over the past years to maintain security and stability in coordination with the Lebanese state and its official security agencies, and we will continue on this path to preserve the security and sovereignty of Lebanon and to protect our people in the camps under the rule of Lebanese law and security."
