At least four construction workers have died, while around 50 of their colleagues remain trapped under the rubble after a building under construction collapsed in the coastal city of George, South Africa, yesterday, authorities reported. The municipality of George, located 400 kilometers east of Cape Town, stated that "24 people have been rescued from under the rubble, and most of them have been taken to the hospital. Four of them died from their injuries." According to the municipality's statement released late Monday - Tuesday, "51 people are still trapped under the rubble." City spokesperson Chantal Edwards noted that "a team of 75 workers was on-site when the building, which was under construction, collapsed." The five-story building, which included an underground parking area, collapsed on Monday afternoon. The cause of the collapse has not yet been determined.
