Investigation of Suspicious Substance Near Congress

The U.S. Capitol Police announced that they are investigating a suspicious substance found on a street near the Capitol building and in the area where the Republican National Committee headquarters is located. The Capitol Police stated in a release that authorities have closed First Street Southeast between C and D Streets and directed employees and others to avoid the area. The Republican National Committee headquarters is among the buildings located there.
