Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will make an official visit to Japan from May 20 to May 23, marking his first visit in nearly five years. During this trip, he will meet with Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, as announced by Tokyo today. The Japanese Foreign Ministry expressed in a statement its hope that the visit would further strengthen the friendly relations between Japan and Saudi Arabia. Government spokesperson Yoshimasa Hayashi confirmed that Kishida would discuss a wide range of issues related to the Middle East and the international situation with the Crown Prince, without providing further details. The last time Prince Mohammed visited Japan was in 2019 for the G20 summit in Osaka. Japan maintains close ties with Gulf countries and imports about 90% of its oil needs from the Middle East.
