The Israeli army announced on Monday the "elimination of the head of internal security operations for Hamas in Gaza, Faiq al-Mabhuh, during an operation at al-Shifa Hospital." The Israeli army is conducting an operation targeting the hospital in Gaza City, stating in a statement that "soldiers are currently carrying out a precise operation in the al-Shifa Hospital area," adding that "the operation is based on information indicating that senior Hamas terrorist officials are using the hospital." Al-Mabhuh coordinated with clans and UNRWA to facilitate and secure aid to northern Gaza and holds the position of police operations chief in Gaza. It is noted that Faiq al-Mabhuh is the brother of Palestinian politician Mahmoud al-Mabhuh, who was assassinated by Israel in Dubai in 2010.
