Taekwondo... Bou Habib Loses in the Quarterfinals of the World Championship in Azerbaijan

Lebanese taekwondo athlete Mariella Bou Habib (under 53 kg) lost in the quarterfinals of the World Championship for men and women held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku. Bou Habib qualified for this round after winning four matches in the preliminary rounds and the round of 16, worthy of moving on to the quarterfinals. Had she passed this round and advanced to the semifinals, she would have guaranteed a medal, noting that Lebanon last lost in the quarterfinals twenty years ago in Germany, specifically in 2003. The Lebanese delegation to the World Championship consisted of: National Team Director and national coach Grandmaster Ralph Harb (head of the delegation), Grandmaster Eli Ilya (coach), Raphael Qudsi (under 59 kg), Ralph Hneineh (under 63 kg), Habib Samaha (under 67 kg), Ray Al-Raee (over 87 kg), Anna Haddad (under 49 kg), Mariella Bou Habib (under 53 kg), Leticia Aoun (under 57 kg), and Ward Salman (under 73 kg).
