The Egyptian government has reviewed the initiative from the General Union of Poultry Producers to reduce the prices of chicken and eggs by 10% to 15%. The Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Mr. El-Sayed El-Qusair, stated in his report prepared for the government that this initiative responds to government efforts to lower commodity prices, especially given the ease provided by the state to alleviate the burden on consumers.
He pointed out that the General Union of Poultry Producers announced this initiative yesterday during a meeting held by the Minister of Agriculture with representatives of companies and relevant authorities. As a result of this initiative, the price of live chickens at the farm has been set at 85 Egyptian pounds, and the price of a carton of table eggs at 135 Egyptian pounds, with these prices to take effect starting this week, specifically from tomorrow, Tuesday, April 2nd.
The Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation confirmed that, in light of the announced prices, the maximum price for consumers will be 95 pounds for chicken and 145 pounds for eggs. He noted that the 10% to 15% price reduction is a first phase, emphasizing the continued extensive efforts to ensure the availability of various products at reasonable prices.
