Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed today, Friday, that "the European Parliament, by criticizing the Russian presidential elections and imposing sanctions on their organizers in the new Russian regions, is affirming its slide into Russophobia." Peskov stated: "I don’t think these are the statements we are prepared to listen to. In fact, the European Parliament has long maintained a steadfast and consecutive position of Russophobia, which contradicts the mission of parliamentarians aimed at developing dialogue and exploring ways to build a dialogue rather than resorting to such blatant statements and internal contradictions, and so on. This is our position on this decision." The European Parliament adopted a resolution yesterday, Thursday, criticizing the presidential elections that took place in Russia last March and called for reducing communications with the Russian leadership.
