Modified Version of "Magic Mouse" Fixes Apple's Design Flaws

Modified Version of

Apple's products have long been admired by users for their sleek design and advanced technology. However, the design of the Magic Mouse has been a major point of contention for a long time. Ivan Kuleshov, a systems engineer at JetBrains, created a modified version of the Magic Mouse and shared the new design on his account on X, which garnered much appreciation.

"I hacked the Magic Mouse. And created the world's first ergonomic Magic Mouse with no weaknesses. Yes, you can charge it via USB-C right while you're working! More details + demo in the thread," he tweeted on November 16, 2023.

One of the main complaints about the Magic Mouse was the inconvenient placement of the charging port and the continued use of the Lightning cable instead of the more widely adopted USB-C. Kuleshov's redesign directly addresses this issue by offering a USB-C charging port in a more accessible location, allowing users to charge the mouse while still using it.

Using the mouse while charging, a standard feature even on the cheapest available mice, was not available on the Magic Mouse. Kuleshov fixed this flaw, demonstrating precise reconnections of the battery connectors to ensure uninterrupted use during charging.

After successfully fixing the Magic Mouse, Kuleshov has not kept his improvements to himself. Instead, he released all specifications and details of the redesigned Magic Mouse on GitHub, inviting enthusiasts and other engineers to explore, adapt, and even improve his innovations.

Once the basic functionality was ensured, Kuleshov set out to make further enhancements, including motion backlighting. While Kuleshov's redesign may not be the first attempt to address the Magic Mouse's limitations, and despite the comprehensive changes already made, he acknowledges that there is still room for improvement.
