The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued a statement today, Saturday, stating: "Following a series of thefts that targeted billboards in Zahle during October of this year, carried out by unidentified individuals who stole billboards valued at approximately $10,000 without leaving any trace. As a result, the Zahle Judicial Police's patrols intensified their investigations in the areas where these incidents occurred. Through follow-up, they managed to identify the suspects, namely: S. S. (born in 1979, Lebanese) and K. A. (born in 1989, Lebanese). On 21/11/2023, after careful monitoring, patrols from the division carried out a raid in the town of Taalabaya, which resulted in the arrest of S. S. During the investigation, he confessed to the charges against him regarding stealing several billboards through breaking and entering in collaboration with K. A. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend him and for selling the stolen items to H. SH. (born in 1992, Syrian nationality). They skillfully stole billboards and made substantial financial gains by selling them to a person, while the Zahle Judicial Police arrested one of them and the buyer, and are pursuing the other suspect.
On 22/11/2023, one of the division's patrols arrested the latter in the Saadnayel area. During the investigation, he confessed to the charges related to purchasing the stolen billboards and selling them to an unknown party. Some of the remaining stolen items were seized from him. A search and investigation warrant has been issued for K. A., and the seized stolen goods were returned to their owner. Legal measures have been taken against the detainees, who were referred to the relevant authority for legal proceedings based on the instructions of the competent judiciary, and efforts continue to apprehend the remaining members of the gang."
