Police: Report of Gunfire at the U.S. Capitol Building

The U.S. Capitol Police said they received a report of potential gunfire at the Capitol building on Wednesday and urged those inside Senate offices to shelter in place. The Senate is currently on summer recess, and most of its members are not in their offices. The police stated on social media, "Everyone in the Senate buildings should shelter in place due to reports of someone firing a weapon. We note that there have been no confirmed reports of shots fired." The police said they are verifying this report.
