Discussion on Financing Digital Transformation in the Justice Sector

In continuation of the implementation of the digital transformation plan in the justice sector, a delegation from the World Bank visited the Minister of Justice in the caretaker government, Judge Henry Khoury, in his office to discuss the activation and financing ways of the digital transformation plan in the justice sector. The delegation included digital development specialist Abdullah Jbour and Tania Zaroubi. Additionally, World Bank advisor attorney Nay Qostantin joined via video conferencing from Washington, along with other experts in the fields of digital transformation and electronic development.

Present at the meeting were Judge Karl Airani and the Minister of Justice's advisor for information technology and digital transformation, attorney Ali Jaber. The Minister of Justice shared with the World Bank delegation the ongoing efforts to implement the digital transformation plan in the justice sector, specifically the reports and preparations related to the practical minutes for the electronic official assignment decree approved by the Cabinet in its session on October 2, 2024, which is expected to be published alongside the mentioned decree in the official Gazette.

Furthermore, the ministry is preparing to launch the official version of the electronic "Governance" program for the courts in coordination with the Chief Judge of the Appeals Courts in Beirut, Judge Habib Rizkallah, and the Head of the Implementation Department in Beirut, Judge Najah Aitani. This program will initially be activated starting from the Implementation Department in Beirut and will be expanded to other courts in the Beirut Justice Palace, paving the way for its implementation in other Lebanese courts. The World Bank delegation expressed its full readiness to cooperate with the ministry and provide necessary support to accompany the implementation of the digital transformation plan in the justice sector.
