Mass Deaths of Fish in Poland

Toxic golden algae in the Oder River, which runs along the border of Poland and Germany, have caused the deaths of large numbers of fish. The crisis unit of the Polish Ministry of Climate and Environment announced that the toxic algae were washed into the river from the "Gliwice" Canal, and the highest level of warning has been declared for a section of the river near the town of Lądek, southeast of the city of Wrocław.
