A recent study found that individuals suffering from bowel cancer who drink 2 to 4 cups of coffee daily are less likely to experience a recurrence of the disease. The study, conducted in the Netherlands and funded by the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF), was published in the International Journal of Cancer. It revealed that "patients who consume several cups of coffee daily are 32 percent less likely than those who drink fewer than two cups to be affected again by bowel cancer." It also concluded that "individuals with bowel cancer who consume this amount of coffee daily are also less likely to die from any cause," according to the British newspaper "The Guardian." Experts stated that the results of the study are "promising," and they anticipate that if further studies yield the same conclusions, 43,000 Britons diagnosed with bowel cancer each year may be encouraged to drink coffee. This disease causes approximately 16,500 deaths annually—45 people every day.
