Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the current global upheavals are caused by the actions of the West, emphasizing that no one is safe from Western geopolitical machinations and new crises expected in 2024, as reported by TASS. In response to a question about the risks of escalation in various parts of the world in 2024, he said, "The situation in the world continues to fluctuate, and one of the reasons is that the ruling circles in the West provoke crises thousands of kilometers from their borders to solve their problems at the expense of other countries. We can say that in circumstances where the West clings to elusive hegemony, no one is safe from its geopolitical tricks. This understanding is growing in the world."
He stressed that "Russia's partners on the international stage are aware of this situation, and most of them agree with Moscow that the West will sooner or later have to accept the realities of a multipolar world, after which all issues will be resolved based on a balance of interests. However, up to this moment, it seems that the crisis will continue to worsen."
Among the examples of Western aggression, he mentioned the NATO forces' bombing of Yugoslavia, the invasion of Iraq "under the false pretext of weapons of mass destruction there," the collapse of the Libyan state, and the intervention in Syria. He added, "In this series, the outbreak of armed conflict in Eastern Europe due to NATO's expansion and Ukraine becoming an anti-Russian launch pad is included. The latest is the aggravation of the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict area. The elements of conflict are also present in other regions."
He specifically pointed out the crises in African countries, Afghanistan, and the Korean Peninsula. Lavrov concluded that "the Americans are openly encouraging separatist tendencies in Taiwan, in defiance of repeated warnings from Beijing that this contradicts the fundamental interests of the People's Republic of China."
