The Muslim Elders Council, headed by Grand Imam Ahmed el-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, praised the honorable position of the United Arab Emirates regarding the Palestinian issue and its rejection of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statements calling for the UAE to participate in the civilian administration of the Gaza Strip.
The Council expressed its full support for the courageous stance of the UAE, emphasizing that the Israeli Prime Minister does not possess any legitimate authority to take such a step and that it rejects being drawn into any scheme aimed at providing cover for the Israeli presence in Gaza.
